Privacy Policy

About this policy
Pierre Massemble ("we", "us", "our") runs this website. This policy explains, in plain words, what personal information we collect when you use the site, call or text us, why we collect it, and what we do with it. Our website and the tools behind it are provided by RingVan (RingVan LLC), a company that builds and runs websites for local trades businesses. RingVan handles your information only on our behalf and under our instructions.
Who we are
Pierre Massemble is a other business. We serve customers in Quebec. Our address is 1022 Place des Capucines, Laval, QC H7X 3K8. You can reach us at 514 961-3644 or info@pierremassemble.ca.
We are responsible for the personal information we collect, including information that RingVan and our other service providers handle for us. This policy is meant to follow Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Person in charge of the protection of personal information
The person in charge of the protection of personal information at Pierre Massemble is the person with the highest authority at Pierre Massemble. This person makes sure this policy and the law are followed, and is the one to contact with questions, requests and complaints. To reach them: info@pierremassemble.ca. You can also write to RingVan at privacy@ringvan.com; RingVan will pass your message to our person in charge, because we decide what happens to your information.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to answer your request and do the work you ask for. Here is the full list.
Information you give us directly. When you fill out a form on this site, we collect your name, your phone number and the message you type (for example, what is wrong and how urgent it is). When you call or text us, we collect your phone number and whatever you tell us (such as your address, so we can come to you).
Information we collect automatically. When you visit the site, our hosting provider sees your IP address and browser type, like any website. We use them to show you the page, protect against abuse, and count visits as described under "Visits and analytics" below. We do not keep your IP address in our visit records.
Information from other companies. We show reviews that customers left for us on Google. Those reviews, names and ratings come from Google and are already public. We may also show reviews customers gave us directly (by text, e-mail or in person), with a first name or initials, the date and a city. If one of those is yours and you want it removed, contact us. We do not collect anything else about you from outside sources.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, payment card numbers, social insurance numbers, health information or other sensitive personal information through the site's forms or by text.
Why we collect it
We use your personal information only for these purposes, which we tell you about when we collect it:
Answering your request, giving you a quote, booking a visit and doing the job.
Calling or texting you back about your request, including updates such as "we're on the way".
Keeping a record of the work we did for you (your "job file"), which may include notes, photos and payments. We may show before-and-after photos of the work on this site; those photos never show your name, address or anything that identifies you.
Keeping the site working, safe and free of spam.
Understanding how people find our site, so we know which ads and listings are worth paying for.
Meeting our legal, accounting and tax obligations.
We do not use your information for any other purpose without your consent, unless the law requires or allows it. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not sell it.
Your consent
We ask for your consent clearly, for each of these purposes, when we collect your information. By sending us a form, calling us, texting us or using the "Text us" box, you consent to us collecting, using and disclosing your information for the purposes above. We never make your consent to something unnecessary a condition of doing the job.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits. Tell us by phone, e-mail or mail, or reply STOP to our texts. If you withdraw consent, we may not be able to finish your job, and we will tell you if that is the case.
If you are under 14, the consent of a parent or guardian is needed. This site is for homeowners and businesses; we do not knowingly collect information about children. If you think a child sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Texting us ("Text us" and text messages)
This site has a "Text us" box. You enter your first name, your phone number and a message. By sending it, you give us your express consent to receive text messages from us about your request. We record the exact consent sentence you saw and the time you sent the message. You then get an automatic reply confirming we received your text, and we continue the conversation by text from our business number.
You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP or ARRÊT. Reply HELP or AIDE for help. Standard message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies with your request. Our full text message terms are at https://pierremassemble.ca/en/sms-terms.
We do not share your mobile phone number or your consent to receive texts with anyone for their marketing.
Visits and analytics
We count visits ourselves, without advertising cookies and without sending your browsing to an analytics company. Here is exactly what is stored for each page you view: the page, the date and time, whether it was your first page on this visit, your device type (phone, tablet or computer), your country, the website that sent you here (for example "google.ca" or a link in an ad), and any campaign tags or ad click IDs that were in the link you clicked. To count visitors without identifying them, a short code is made from your IP address and browser type together with a secret value that changes every day and is thrown away. The code cannot be turned back into your IP address, and the IP address itself is not stored. Your browser also keeps the link you arrived on for the current tab only (in "session storage"), so that if you call or send a form from that tab we know which ad or search brought you. That is cleared when you close the tab.
Knowing which ad brought you here
When you arrive from an advertisement or a tagged link, we save a small first-party cookie on your browser for up to 90 days. It holds only three things: the ad click ID, the campaign tags from the link, and the page you landed on. It is set only by this website, is never read by another website, and holds nothing about who you are. If you later call or send us a form, we attach that information to your request so we know the ad worked.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request not to use this cookie: no cookie is set, and the information is kept only for the current tab. You can also clear cookies in your browser at any time.
Cookies and technology
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or social media buttons, and we use no technology that lets us identify you, locate you or build a profile of you. This site's settings give the highest level of privacy by default. The only cookie we set is the 90-day first-party cookie described above, and only when you arrive from an ad or a tagged link. Some forms use a bot check from Cloudflare (Turnstile). It runs only on pages with a form, works without a cookie in most browsers, and does not track you across websites.
Who we share information with
We share your information only with the service providers that help us run the site and talk to you. Our written agreements with them require them to protect it and to use it only to provide their service to us. They are:
RingVan (RingVan LLC), which builds and runs the website, the forms and the texting, and provides the app we use to manage your request. RingVan support staff can see your request when they help us use the system, and every change they make is logged.
Cloudflare, which hosts the website and stores form submissions securely.
Twilio, which carries phone calls and text messages.
Resend, which delivers e-mail notifications about your request to us.
Google, which provides the reviews we display. When reviews are shown, no information about you is sent to Google.
We may also disclose information when the law requires or allows it, to protect someone's safety, or if our business is sold or merged (the new owner would have to follow this policy). We never share your information with other contractors or lead-selling companies.
Information stored or processed outside Quebec
RingVan is a United States company. RingVan and most of the service providers listed above store or process information in the United States, and sometimes in other countries. Your personal information may therefore be communicated outside Quebec and Canada. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of that country.
Before communicating information outside Quebec, we assess the privacy factors, including how sensitive the information is, what it will be used for, the protection measures (including contractual ones) and the legal framework that applies, and we do it only if that assessment shows the information will be adequately protected. A written agreement with each provider sets out that protection. If you have questions about this, contact our person in charge of the protection of personal information.
We do not sell your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone so they can show you ads on other websites based on what you did here. We do not share your phone number or texting consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing.
How long we keep information
We keep your request and job file only as long as we need it for the purposes above, to keep business and tax records the law requires, and to handle any dispute. When we no longer need it, we destroy it or anonymize it following the rules of the law. Visit counts are kept as totals; the daily code that groups visits is deleted every day. The attribution cookie expires after 90 days. If we stop using RingVan, RingVan deletes its copy of the data 90 days after our account closes.
How we protect information
Your information is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Form submissions and texts are first stored in a private, isolated data store for our business, so they are not lost if a system is down. Only our staff with a reason to see your request can see it, each person has their own login, and every change is logged. No system is perfectly secure, so please contact us if you think something is wrong.
Confidentiality incidents
If a confidentiality incident involving your personal information presents a risk of serious injury to you, we promptly notify the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec and you, and tell you what we are doing and what you can do to protect yourself. We also take steps to reduce the risk. We keep a register of every confidentiality incident, as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us whether we hold personal information about you, get a copy, and find out who we have communicated it to. You can have information that is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous corrected, and ask us to delete information we no longer need.
You can ask that computerized information you gave us be sent to you, or to a person or organization you name, in a structured, commonly used technological format.
You can ask us to stop disseminating your personal information or to de-index any hyperlink attached to your name that gives access to that information, where the law allows it.
If a decision about you were ever based exclusively on automated processing of your information, we would tell you and you could submit your observations to a person. Today, no decision about you is made that way.
We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. In some cases the law allows or requires us to refuse access (for example, if it would reveal information about another person); if we refuse, we will tell you why in writing.
How to make a request
Send your request to our person in charge of the protection of personal information: info@pierremassemble.ca. You can also call us at 514 961-3644, e-mail info@pierremassemble.ca, or write to 1022 Place des Capucines, Laval, QC H7X 3K8. Say what you want (see, correct, delete or receive your information, or withdraw your consent), the phone number or name you used with us, and how we can reach you. We may ask you to confirm your identity, for example by matching the phone number you used. We answer in writing within 30 days of receiving your request. Access to your information is free; a reasonable fee may apply for transcribing, copying or sending it, and we will tell you any fee first.
If you are not satisfied
Please contact us first so we can try to fix the problem. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can file a complaint or ask for a disagreement to be examined by the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, 525, boulevard René-Lévesque Est, bureau 2.36, Québec (Québec) G1R 5S9, toll-free 1-888-528-7741, www.cai.gouv.qc.ca.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you already gave us, we will tell you by text or e-mail when we can and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent again.
